Welcome to Chrysalis Supported Association

                                 What We Are ?

Chrysalis is an accommodation based Drug And Alcohol Support Service.  Founded in March 2003 to provide tailor adapted structured support services to clients who needed additional support after completing or whilst completing Drug & Alcohol Treatment.

Why Our Services are Vital ?

We at Chrysalis feel that resettlement is an important aspect of any successful recovery and therefore it is important that Clients receive and have access to well timed interventions.  The flexibility of Chrysalis' services means that support is available when the Client needs it.  Primary and Secondary Treatment are important catalysts in a Clients journey however the time period is short largely due to the expense of these vital services.  It is not unusual for these interventions to last typically 6-8 weeks and if lucky up to 6 months.  During this very short period of time a client is expected to deal with and begin to come to terms with a life time of addiction and it's associated consequences which is for some unrealistic and can often precipitate relapse.  This is not only a devastating and sometimes unrecoverable consequence, it is a massive burden to the tax-payer who usually fund Treatment monies through central government pots.

Services like that of Chrysalis last for up to 2 years and where necessary longer and aim to re-integrate a Client on to complete Independence.  Success rates are notably increased if a Client is allowed to progress at a rate that is appropriate for them, applying unrealistic pressure is in our experience counterproductive.

Our services are provided to Clients over a variety of support modalities that usually mirror the accommodation Clients reside in whilst at Chrysalis.  It is however a requirement that Clients, whilst resident remain free from drugs and alcohol.  It is also a support and contracted condition of stay that  a Client attend support meetings  such as NA;AA or other supportful networks such as religious groups or any other type of help which is part of an appropriate support system. In our experience Clients that have a well established support system and use it are more likely to be successful in their efforts to maintain into the future any changes they make.

Chrysalis provides a variety of accommodations ranging from single occupation rooms in shared homes.  through to 2 bed flat shares and 1 bed self contained flats.  Our properties are based throughout the Bristol area and are never in areas that we feel would be unsuitable to our client's aspirations and objectives.

Chrysalis' Aims.

"At Chrysalis we aim to provide suitable and appropriate accommodation and support to men and women who have a history of homelessness or chaotic and unsettled lifestyles and who seek to establish and maintain their recoveries from dependency in whatever form.

We offer structured support in third (shared)/fourth (flat shares) and self contained flats with high to low level support available.

It is our belief that through living in a well structured and boundaried communal setting that residents can begin to develop healthy relationships and support networks, with self directed personal structure and self discipline.  Helping to build trust in both themselves and others. Therefore assisting in the often difficult transition towards independent living free from harmful and counterproductive behavior."
